In a heartwarming exchange that bridges the worlds of tennis and basketball, Alexis Ohanian, tech entrepreneur and husband of tennis legend Serena Williams, has extended an open invitation to WNBA star Caitlin Clark for dinner at their home. This gesture comes after Clark expressed her admiration for Williams, naming her as the celebrity she’d most like to dine with.

During a recent interview, when asked which celebrity she would choose to have dinner with, Clark responded without hesitation, “Ooo good question. Serena Williams.” This candid revelation quickly caught the attention of Ohanian, who took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to respond. He wrote, “C’mon now @CaitlinClark22 there’s an open invitation at our home!”

The invitation has sparked excitement among fans of both sports. Many took to social media to share their enthusiasm, with one fan commenting, “Ohhhh dream dinner to be a part of!!” Another noted, “This is the content I needed on International Women’s Day!!”

This isn’t the first interaction between Williams and Clark. At the 2024 ESPYs, where Williams served as host, she humorously acknowledged Clark‘s outstanding rookie season. Williams quipped, “Caitlin Clark had an amazing year and is nominated for three awards. You are the Larry Bird in that you are an amazing player, you have ties to Indiana, and white people are really crazy about you.”

Clark later praised Williams‘ performance as host, stating, “Serena did a tremendous job hosting. I think that was great.”

A bond between two female superstars

Beyond this personal connection, Williams has recently deepened her involvement in women’s basketball by becoming a key investor in the WNBA’s new franchise, the Toronto Tempo. Announced on March 3, 2025, this move marks the league’s first expansion into Canada. Williams expressed her enthusiasm on Instagram, writing, “New court, new game. I am incredibly excited to join the @torontotempo as the team’s newest owner.” She emphasized that this venture is about “showcasing the true value and potential of female athletes,” reiterating her belief that “women’s sports are an incredible investment opportunity.”

The prospective dinner between Clark and Williams symbolizes more than just a meeting of two sports stars; it represents the mutual respect and camaraderie that transcends individual disciplines. As Williams continues to champion women’s sports both on and off the court, interactions like these highlight the supportive community that exists among female athletes.

For Clark, the opportunity to dine with her idol is a dream come true, reflecting the profound impact Williams has had on athletes across various sports. As fans eagerly await updates on this anticipated dinner, the event serves as a reminder of the unity and inspiration that define the world of women’s athletics.
