Serena Williams is passing her love of tennis to her two-year-old daughter as the 23-time Grand Slam champion shared rare courtside photos, showing her youngest child holding a mini racket and attempting to hit balls.
The 44-year-old legendary athlete posted an Instagram carousel Monday, November 24, highlighting four moments of Adira practicing the sport as she picks up the baton, proverbially and literally.
The images show the toddler dressed in tennis whites, mimicking her mother’s movements on the court with focused determination as Williams captioned the post, “This is me sharing my passion for tennis with my youngest daughter.”
The post gave Serena 18.1 million followers a glimpse of Adira, born in August 2023 to her husband, Alexis Ohanian. The pair also share 8-year-old Olympia, who is amassing an impressive business portfolio.
In the photos, the ex-tennis ace wore bright pink sneakers and a black athletic outfit, demonstrating tennis techniques while her daughter copied her swings as the session highlighted the loving parent-child bond.

In recent months, Williams admitted she briefly considered returning to competition, believing she still had more to give on the court but ultimately, she decided against resuming her career.
Since stepping away from professional tennis in 2022, she has focused on business ventures such as her makeup brand Wyn Beauty and her venture capital fund Serena Ventures, while also dedicating time to family.
“I’ve been so focused on my career my whole life,” Serena told PEOPLE. “But when I had a family and got married, I realized that there’s so much more to life.
“And that was great.”
Serena Williams reveals new sport she’s aiming to conquer
While Adira develops basic tennis skills, Williams has also been training for a half-marathon- although a leg injury temporarily paused her progress as she sets her sights on taking over a new sport.
She returned to cardio earlier this year, aiming to regain fitness and test herself in the event slated for February but criticized herself for an apparent lack of effort and determination to practise.
“So, I don’t know what’s happened to me lately,” Williams said via Instagram. “I’ve been so lazy, and I was training earlier this year for a half-marathon, and it didn’t go so well.
“I mean, it was going good, then I got injured. I sustained an injury in my leg. That was four months ago, maybe five, and I haven’t really done cardio since. So, I’m back at it.
“The half-marathon I wanted to do is in February; I think I can still make it. I just got to get serious. The only thing I’m really good at, like, focus on is tennis.”
Despite the setback, Williams has resumed training, which for a marathon is known to be notoriously difficult.
She will have to run 26.2 miles, which for an average female runner will be around four hours and 42 minutes. Serena‘s athletic floor, however, will likely make her faster than the average.
