“Sell Cristiano Ronaldo”: Al Nassr fans lose patience after three consecutive defeats

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr is going through a rough patch after three consecutive defeats, including a 3-1 loss on January 12 to Al Hilal, the current leader of the Saudi league with 38 points.

This has caused the club’s fans to express their anger and frustration with the 41-year-old captain on social media, even calling for the Portuguese striker to be sold.

Al-Nassr fans target CR7

The truth is that before losing to Al Hilal, Cristiano and his teammates had started the year and month with a 3-2 defeat to Al Ahli and a 2-1 defeat to Al Qadisiyah on January 2 and 8, respectively.

Fortunately, even with three defeats, Al Nassr is in second place with 31 points, but Al Taawon and Al Ahli Saudi are close behind with the same number of points.

This situation has become untenable for fans and has led to increasing criticism of the Portuguese player. On X (formerly Twitter), one club fan was blunt: “Sell Cristiano Ronaldo,” began user @Al_Nassrt, adding: “CR7 is costing us 200 million every season, all for NOTHING. Zero official trophies, empty stadiums, failed promises. Imagine the squad we could build without that fossil. Get him out of my Al Nassr.”

The responses from fans were varied. Some of them agreed with the statement and replied: “No club wants him,” said one of them. “Sell Cristiano Ronaldo? haaahahahahha To whom? He has zero value today,” commented another. “True. He must go,” agreed a third follower.

However, others came to his defense, arguing that Cristiano’s arrival on the team has given it greater visibility:

“Calling the man who put your league on the map a ‘fossil’ is wild. Without him, nobody is even watching the Arab league,” replied one user. “CR7 is bigger than your miserable club… Nobody knew your club before CR7,” wrote another. “He is costing you 200 million but bringing back 400 million in TV rights, promotion, viewership, sponsors, etc.,” highlighted one fan.

The truth is that, despite CR7 scoring a goal against Al Hilal and extending his scoring streak to 959, he was substituted in the 83rd minute by Wesley Gassovano and could have done more to stop his opponents.

Meanwhile, Cristiano has a contract with the club until 2027 and will return to action on Saturday, January 17, when Al Nassr faces Al Shabab at AL-AWWAL PARK Stadium in Raid.
