The battle to reach the Super Bowl begins this weekend. As the 14 playoff teams sharpen their weapons, experts have already begun the deluge of predictions, among them NFL Red Zone commentator Scott Hanson, who made a prediction that left fans and bettors perplexed.
This year, the Super Bowl will be played on Sunday, February 8, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. With the Kansas City Chiefs out and the Philadelphia Eagles struggling, these playoffs are anyone’s game.
With the field wide open, experts like Albert Breer and Conor Orr of Monday Morning Quarterback favor the Bills and Rams to reach the Big Game. Meanwhile, Melissa Jacobs of The Guardian predicted a Rams vs. Broncos matchup.
Hanson, for his part, is one of the few analysts who can boast of having seen every playoff contender play at least once this season. This gives his prediction a credibility advantage.
Hanson’s bold Prediction for Super Bowl LX
In a recent chat on “The Chubbies League Fantasy Football Show,” Hanson surprised his co-hosts Ian Rapoport and Emanuel Sanders by predicting: “Rams over Jags, book it.”
As expected, Sanders was quick to correct Hanson’s prediction, replacing Jacksonville with his former team, the Denver Broncos.
Nevertheless, many fans and bettors will likely lean more toward Hanson’s prediction, not only because of his extensive knowledge but also because of his much more objective perspective.
“People don’t believe me when I tell them I don’t have a favorite team, but it’s true. I love the game, pure and simple,” the commentator said in a 2010 interview with Comcast.
What are the odds for Super Bowl LX?
Hanson partially confirmed the bettors’ predictions. According to DraftKings, the Seattle Seahawks and the Los Angeles Rams are the NFC favorites to win the Super Bowl, with odds of +330 and +425, respectively.
On the AFC side, the favorites are the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots, with odds of +650 and +950, respectively. Hanson’s favorite, the Jaguars, has odds of +1300.
For Hanson’s prediction to come true, the Rams must first defeat the Carolina Panthers this Saturday, while Jacksonville will face the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
