Scandal in Peruvian soccer: “The investigation is ongoing; they took women to the training camp”

Franco Navarro did not shy away from the subject. The sporting director of Alianza Lima spoke on the program ‘Vamos al VAR’ of RPP about the sexual complaint that affects Carlos Zambrano, Sergio Peña and Miguel Trauco, and that led the club to separate them indefinitely.

“Sunday was a day where we finished playing very late with Colo Colo, after three games where we saw that the team meets the expectations that we all expect. At five in the morning we went to the airport and everything was normal. Today (Thursday) in the morning, on the way to training, these news appear that leave us in a sad situation, difficult to explain,” Navarro recalled about what happened on January 18.

The manager explained that the decision was consensual: “We met with Pablo Guede, the sports area and the legal area. The decision was made to indefinitely separate these players. The investigation is ongoing, but women entered the concentration, something we regret. We said that this year we were not going to allow any act of indiscipline”.

Navarro, visibly hurt, added: “It breaks one’s soul, because one wants the best, one wants them to succeed, but they are difficult situations. What involves the whole sports team and does not do us good, we have to eradicate it. We said at the beginning of the year that we were not going to tolerate any kind of misconduct”.

The manager defended his role in managing the squad: “I was brought in to make decisions and since last year I have been making them. What I do is to make decisions for the benefit of the club, seeking to achieve the objectives we set ourselves”. Finally, Navarro was blunt about the reason for the sanction: “What is confirmed is that they brought them in, that is indiscipline. That is the most important thing. We are not going to go into detail”.
