Salah is free and his name is already being mentioned for Inter Miami: the Egyptian’s confessed love for Messi could help

Mohamed Salah has been one of the great figures of European soccer in the last decade. His legacy at Liverpool will go down in the history of the Reds, but at 33 years of age, the Egyptian can still give a lot in his professional career. The announcement of his departure from Liverpool has sparked rumors, and as is often the case, the name of Inter Miami appears on the list of possible destinations. Being able to play alongside Lionel Messi before he retires is reason enough to seduce anyone.

Especially Salah, a fervent admirer of the world star. “I love Messi. Messi is Messi,” he once told ESPN. The Egyptian considers the former Barcelona player to be the best player in the history of football, even above Maradona, in a game proposed by the newspaper L’Equipe. “I’ll stick with him,” he said.

The admiration is mutual, as Leo Messi has also spoken highly of the Egyptian player in the past. “I have seen many great African players. I can say that Mo Salah is the best. He is a special player,” he said.

Therefore, the rapport between the two already exists, and this makes things easier. In addition, Salah is one of the MLS targets for next season, since the signing of Griezmann by Orlando City is already official. Last December, commissioner Don Garber asked the Egyptian to speak to Lionel Messi and Thomas Muller to find out about MLS.

“Obviously, if Salah ever decides to come to Major League Soccer, we will welcome him with open arms. I would say he should approach Leo Messi and Thomas Muller and see how happy they have been and how successful they have been, and how much they have really embraced being in MLS,” he said.

Saudi Pro League, MLS’ great rival for Salah

The great rival of MLS to close the signing of Salah, either at Inter Miami or any other franchise, is the Saudi League. The fact that he is a Muslim star is a big attraction for Arab football, for whom the war in Iran, however, plays against him for security reasons. He could be the great reference of this championship, a possible successor of Cristiano Ronaldo as a great attraction, together with Benzema at Al Hilal

At the moment, the player’s agent, Ramy Abbas, has tried to stop the rumors. “We don’t know where Mohamed will play next season. That also means that no one else knows,” he said. Inter Miami has Messi and Rodrigo de Paul as franchise players, so it could still restructure its current squad and bring in one more player without breaking MLS rules. He could be the replacement for Luis Suarez, who is out of contract.
