No one expected Ryan Garcia to fall back to his old ways ahead of his return from a one-year suspension, but it’s perhaps been somewhat surprising to see how even-keeled he’s been. Before fighting Devin Haney last year, Garcia went on a social media rampage and practically scared all of his fans with demented and concerning posts and messages.

Despite questions surrounding his mental health, Garcia dominated Haney in the ring, albeit with an unfair advantage. Since then, Garcia has been transparent about his struggles with alcohol. He appears to be in a better place mentally, and it has shown up in how he’s acted before fighting Rolly Romero on May 2.

Garcia has really toned down his output on social media, particularly on Twitter. In fact, he hasn’t posted there since March 29. That was also the last time he posted on Instagram. While Garcia takes a break from external distractions, his opponent has made a plea that has raised eyebrows. Romero posted a message on his Instagram stories asking companies to get in contact with him through email for sponsorship purposes for the upcoming fight.

Who can blame him for trying to squeeze out as much money as possible from the fight, though? This may be the last time he fights a name as big as Garcia.
