The nightmare is over for Ryan Garcia as a year that can only be described as a roller coaster ride has finally come to an end.
To remember all the controversies of the year, we have to go back to April of last year when Ryan Garcia defeated Devin Haney by a landslide.
A few weeks later, it was revealed that the boxer had tested positive for Ostarine in his Voluntary Anti-Doping Association test conducted before the fight.
The punishment imposed on Ryan Garcia invalidated his victory over Devin Haney, who regained his undefeated record. In addition, Garcia lost $1 million in purse money and paid a $10,000 fine.
He also had to undergo a drug test to confirm his return. With this final hurdle overcome, the 26-year-old expressed his relief on social media and decided to look forward and turn the page.
Ryan Garcia is celebrating the end of his suspension in his own way
The Victorville native, true to form, showed his enormous happiness at his return to boxing in a post on X.
“Wow, my suspension is officially lifted on Easter, super cool. All glory to Jesus,” Ryan wrote.
However, it is not all happiness for Ryan as he still has one major concern, namely the lawsuit filed by Devin Haney, but he could have some good news in the coming months regarding this case.
Devin Haney ready to drop charges against Ryan
Haney‘s loss to Garcia hurt him deeply, it was a direct blow to his pride, and when it was revealed that he had been using drugs, he exploded like never before, not only out of excitement that the loss was overturned, but also out of anger that he was facing a Ryan who had an athletic advantage over him because of these substances.
Devin did not sit idly by and sued him for assault, fraud and breach of contract.
Both boxers will share the May 2 card in New York, with Haney facing José Ramírez and Garcia facing Rolly Romero. If both emerge victorious, a fight between them has already been scheduled for October in Saudi Arabia.
“If we fight, there will be no lawsuit. We will withdraw the lawsuit,” said Devin Haney about the current status of the case, so it is now up to both boxers to face each other again.
