Robert Saleh “disagrees” with Kevin Stefanski and says 49ers are ready to test Shedeur Sanders like never before

Both fans and his harshest critics are once again ready to watch Shedeur Sanders‘ performance against a team that is clearly a step above the Las Vegas Raiders. The San Francisco 49ers will be the toughest test the quarterback has faced in his young career, led by a defense coordinated by Robert Saleh.

The 49ers’ defense is coming off holding the Carolina Panthers to just 9 points, including limiting Bryce Young to 169 passing yards and picking him off twice. They’ll be looking to bring that same effectiveness against the Cleveland Browns‘ rookie sensation.

Robert Saleh makes his feelings about Shedeur Sanders very clear

In Week 12, the Browns posted their second-highest point total of the season, and it’s fair to say this offense is starting to look different-especially considering that, outside of running back Quinshon Judkins, the other pieces haven’t exactly been at their best.

“He’s a good, young quarterback. He’s mobile, he’s got a big arm, tremendous confidence,” Saleh said in his press conference. “He made a couple of really, really good throws in the Vegas game-extending plays, getting out of the pocket, delivering the ball where it needed to be delivered.

Obviously he showed good command of the huddle and at the line of scrimmage. You anticipate someone like him who has that confidence and that skill set is just going to get better and better every week.”

Shedeur Sanders will face a completely different monster in the NFL this time, after making his debut against the Raiders where he went 11-of-20 for 209 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

Saleh emphasized that time will only build more confidence for Shedeur, so it’s safe to say he has nothing but positive things to say about the young player that no one wanted to give a chance to-until Dillon Gabriel’s injury finally opened the door for his NFL journey.

“As he gets comfortable with what they’re asking him to do, he’s only going to get better because you can tell how important it is to him and how much work he’s going to put into it,” Saleh added.

As we mentioned, it’s highly unlikely Sanders will look better against San Francisco than he did last week, but anything can happen. Why not dream that he carves up this defense and secures his second straight victory?
