Ribery reveals his hell after slapping Carvajal: “Ramos and Pepe wanted to kill me”

Franck Ribery has once again left one of those stories that only he can tell. The Frenchman, who lived a thousand battles on the great European stages, recalled an especially tense chapter against Real Madrid.

“I shouted at Carvajal and ended up slapping him,” he confessed with a laugh. “From then on, Ramos and Pepe decided to make my life miserable. They looked at me as if they wanted to kill me every time I touched the ball.”

The former Bayern player said that the duel became a real war: “The game became a matter of survival. Pepe was no longer going for the ball, he was chasing me”.

An anecdote that is once again a hit on social media

Ribery, who never shied away from a fight, admits that that night he understood what it meant to face the wildest Madrid. “With them there was no truce. Not a second of respite,” he said.

They made peace afterwards

Far from rekindling the controversy, Carvajal chose to close the wound once and for all: he shared on social media an image of the embrace between the two players during the match, contrasting it with the slap in 2014. A sporting gesture that symbolised reconciliation and turned an old episode of tension into a lesson in class and fair play.
