Real Madrid vs Manchester City LIVE: Possible line-ups and latest updates – Champions League 25/26

Good evening everybody and welcome along to this MARCA in English live blog, taking you through a mouth-watering Champions League league phase clash between Real Madrid and Manchester City at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in the Spanish capital.

Xabi Alonso is going through his first crisis as Real Madrid head coach, with last week’s win over Athletic Club the only positive result in LaLiga of late, amid a streak that has seen them draw three in a row and most recently being comprehensively beaten by Celta Vigo in their own back yard.

In the Champions League, however, things are much better for Los Blancos, with four wins from their opening five games, stained only by that defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

Now, it’s another Premier League giant that awaits them in the form of Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City. They arrive in Madrid with 10 points from five games, and are in need of a positive result following that shock home defeat to Bayer Leverkusen last time out.

Madrid and City have played out a number of classics in the Champions League in recent years. In the last ten seasons, they have met on six occasions in the knockout phase of the competition, with Madrid coming out victorious on all but two occasions.

There may be less at stake on paper this time around, but with Alonso’s credentials being questioned, the Basque coach is in need of a good result to calm some of the unwanted rumours that are surrounding him.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City LIVE – Latest Updates

Real Madrid vs Man City: Probable line-ups

Trent and Militao picked up injuries in the recent defeat to Celta Vigo, adding to a long list that contains: Carvajal, Alaba, Mendy, Huijsen, and Camavinga. Mbappé, who is suffering from muscle discomfort, is also a doubt.

For City, the most notable absence is former Real Madrid player Mateo Kovacic. Despite this, Pep Guardiola will be able to field almost his strongest starting XI.

Real Madrid: Courtois. Asencio, Rüdiger, Carreras, Fran; Tchouaméni, Valverde, Güler, Bellingham; Vinicius, Rodrygo.

Manchester City: Donnarumma; Nunes, Días, Gvardiol, O’Reilly; Nico, Bernardo, Reijnders; Foden, Haaland, Doku.
