The Pro Football Hall of Fame is once again at the center of NFL attention as fans and analysts await this year’s list of inductees.

Located in Canton, Ohio, the Hall of Fame honors the game’s most influential figures, immortalizing players, coaches, and contributors who have left a lasting mark on professional football.

This year’s ceremony is expected to draw significant attention, particularly due to ongoing debate surrounding former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick‘s absence from the Hall.

Every year, voters select new inductees, with gold jackets awarded to those who make the cut. In 2025, notable figures such as Eric Allen, Jared Allen, Antonio Gates, and Sterling Sharpe joined the Hall, joining a storied roster of NFL legends.

The excitement surrounding the announcements grows each year, as fans speculate which players, coaches, and contributors will be recognized next.

Here, we break down the details of the highly-anticipated event so you can keep up to date.

The event will air on the NBC TV channel the night before the Winter Olympics coverage begins, guaranteeing a wide audience and heightened attention from sports fans around the world.

Hall of Fame history

In anticipation of Super Bowl 60, the Hall of Fame has also released promotional material tying in past NFL history.

The upcoming matchup between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks is a rematch of Super Bowl 49, famously decided by Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler‘s game-saving interception against the Seahawks late in the fourth quarter.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw four touchdown passes in that game, including two in the decisive final quarter.

Belichick‘s absence has been a focal point for discussion, highlighting how even the most accomplished coaches can face delays in recognition.

Belichick‘s career includes eight Super Bowl victories, two as defensive coordinator with the New York Giants and six as head coach of the Patriots.

His omission continues a trend of high-profile figures waiting for induction, with former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning also falling short of votes this year.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame officially opened on September 7, 1963. The inaugural class included some of football’s foundational figures, such as Chicago Bears coach George “Papa Bear” Halas, legendary quarterbacks Sammy Baugh and Bronko Nagurski, Green Bay Packers founder Earl “Curly” Lambeau, and Tim Mara.

As NFL enthusiasts await the 2026 inductees, speculation is high about which legends will be announced. But the controversy has already begun after Belichick was passed over in the first ballot.
