Prince Harry, persona non grata in Toronto after snubbing the Blue Jays with Meghan Markle at the World Series

Loyalty is everything in baseball, and Prince Harry just learned that lesson the hard way.

His recent appearance with Meghan Markle at Dodger Stadium during the World Series has sparked outrage among Canadian fans, especially supporters of the Toronto Blue Jays.

The royal couple was photographed during Game 4 of the World Series on October 28, cheering enthusiastically for the Los Angeles Dodgers while wearing matching blue-and-white Dodgers caps.

It was meant to be a fun date night, but for many Canadians, it felt like a betrayal.

After all, Meghan lived in Toronto for years while filming Suits, building deep connections with the city that once embraced her as one of its own.

Meanwhile, Harry completed military training with the Canadian Forces and has often spoken fondly of his time in Canada. To see both of them back the Dodgers over the Blue Jays struck a nerve with fans who take their baseball loyalties seriously.

Backlash builds ahead of Prince Harry’s toronto visit

The controversy only deepened after a November 3 announcement revealed that Prince Harry would be traveling to Toronto for several engagements leading up to Remembrance Day.

The timing, just days after the World Series, couldn’t have been worse.

“Why is he involved in any events for the Canadian Armed Forces? He does not represent King Charles. We are not interested in another security bill. Canadians turn on Prince Harry amid Toronto visit after Blue Jays snub,” Canadian insider LD Mac remarked, capturing the general frustration among Canadians online.

Social media quickly became a hotspot for criticism. “So Harry knew about this trip a year ago and chose to support the LA Dodgers last week? William aside, Harry is stupid? William is going to be King. He doesn’t need to work to outshine anyone,” one fan ranted.

Another added bluntly, “Good luck in Toronto, Harry, after wearing a Dodgers cap!”

The anger didn’t stop there. “No diplomatic skills, no common sense, especially since he knew he was going to Canada the NEXT week. At the very least, he could have changed hats during the course of the game or not worn one at all. What a dumb***,” a third critic wrote.

To baseball fans, this wasn’t about team colors, it was about respect. Many Canadians viewed the Dodgers cap as a symbol of disregard toward their country’s only Major League Baseball team.

“He’s a Dodger fan. Stay away! I don’t think he realizes how deep our feelings are for the Blue Jays! I did like him. My feelings have changed,” one Blue Jays fan confessed.

The sentiment was echoed by others, some even comparing the Duke’s perceived betrayal to Shakespearean drama: “For Jays fans, Harry to them is what Brutus was to Caesar! ‘Et tu, Harry?'”

Still, a few defended Prince Harry‘s decision, suggesting he was merely enjoying a night of baseball without political undertones.

Yet, with his upcoming visit to Toronto looming, public perception matters, and this PR blunder has left the Duke of Sussex in a tough spot.

For Canadians, especially passionate Blue Jays fans, loyalty isn’t just part of the game, it’s everything. And right now, Prince Harry has struck out with Toronto.
