Positive signs in Yankees pitching: Will it be enough for the World Series?

The New York Yankees could not have had a better start to the 2026 MLB season. The New York team swept the San Francisco Giants in three games, winning with authority and showing a dominant level from the mound.

The overall result of the series, 13-1, reflects the superiority of the Yankees, especially thanks to their pitching staff, which was practically impenetrable during the three games.

An almost perfect pitch

The man in charge of opening the season was Max Fried, who put in a solid performance in the 7-0 win. The left-hander worked 6.1 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, one walk and four strikeouts.

In the second game, Cam Schlittler took it up a notch with a dominant outing: 5.1 innings without allowing a run, just one hit, no walks and eight strikeouts in the 3-0 win.

The only run allowed by the Yankees in the series came in the third game, when Will Warren allowed the first run of the season. Even so, he managed to control the damage and complete 4.1 innings with three strikeouts.

A bullpen that makes a difference

The collective performance of the pitching staff has been one of the most outstanding aspects of the start of the campaign. The New York bullpen is among the best in the league at this early stage, being one of the few that has yet to allow an earned run.

In doing so, the team joined a very select group in recent MLB history: franchises that begin a season by allowing just one run in their first three games, a clear demonstration of the dominance they have exerted.

A promising start

While the season is still in its early stages, this start makes clear the potential of the New York Yankees, especially from the mound. The real challenge will be to maintain this level against more demanding opponents.

The next challenge will be a three-game series against the Seattle Mariners, where New York will look to confirm that this start is no fluke, but the reflection of a team ready to compete at the highest level.
