Time goes by and it seems that the comparisons between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will never stop. Although both players are already nearing the end of their careers, they continue to break records and, therefore, the soccer world continues with the endless debate over which of the two is better. With the World Cup getting closer and closer and understanding that it will be the last for these stars, experts are scrutinizing every action of the players, as Piers Morgan recently did.

British journalist Piers Morgan is a well-known supporter of Cristiano Ronaldo and after the red card that CR7 received while playing for the Portugal national team, Morgan came to his defense and compared the play with one of Messi playing for Inter Miami, which sparked debate on social networks.

Piers Morgan’s ‘attack’ on Messi to defend Cristiano Ronaldo

The incident occurred during Portugal’s 2-0 victory over Ireland, where Cristiano Ronaldo saw the first red card of his international career after elbowing a defender. The punishment not only left Ronaldo off the pitch, but will also rule him out of the next crucial match against Armenia and could earn him a suspension for the World Cup.

Shortly after the expulsion, Morgan took to social media to share a clip of Lionel Messi in action with Inter Miami. In the video, Messi is seen pushing a player, an act which Morgan claims should have been punished. The journalist commented: “When Messi did exactly the same thing recently, nothing was done.”

Morgan’s comment generated a lot of noise on social media, as many people think that the comparison does not make sense and that the journalist does it just because he is a friend of CR7. The truth is that the comparisons between Ronaldo and Messi are so great that even when they make a mistake, the experts analyze them.

Piers Morgan’s relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo

Piers Morgan has always been known as a journalist who doesn’t mince words. The Briton is famous for literally saying everything he thinks and doing great interviews with prominent people from all over the world.

Morgan’s “courage” was what generated the admiration of Cristiano Ronaldo and it is not for less, since it is very rare that the Portuguese have so much confidence in a journalist and give him several exclusive interviews. In addition, Morgan is a big fan of Cristiano and whenever he can he speaks well of him on the networks, so he earned his trust.

A few days ago, Morgan republished an interview with Cristiano, in which many topics were discussed, highlighting the moment when CR7 claimed to be the best in history and also said that winning the World Cup does not obsess him at all.
