Pete Alonso has no regrets about taking his renewal with the Mets to the limit

For Pete Alonso, the saga of his contract renewal with the New York Mets is a thing of the past, and it’s no wonder the slugger wants nothing to do with it, as it can’t be easy to face a series of mistakes and misinterpretations by his agent Scott Boras, who was about to ruin everything in the previous months of back-and-forth with the Queens team.

Of course, Alonso is not going to openly acknowledge the position of anguish in which his agent put him, by not being sure with the Mets, nor with any other team in Major League Baseball of the many that were rumored as options to emigrate.

Alonso doesn’t regret anything

The Queens batter claims that he has no regrets about what happened in recent months regarding his contract renewal negotiations and showed a very confident attitude, as is desirable in the Mets and his expectation in the campaign that is about to begin: “Honestly, with how everything played out, I have no regrets, which is honestly liberating. I wouldn’t change anything,” Alonso said.

Ultimately, the responsibility of any player, and Alonso is no exception, is to perform on the field, and the slugger has given a demonstration of this in these days of the offseason in the Mets’ Spring Training, where he has kept as expected: talking with the bat

Money has already taken a back seat and now what matters for Alonso and his teammates is that the Mets open the season with an eye on the postseason and of course the World Series in October.

The Mets are going all out for the postseason

The yardstick cannot be less, because the team has built a catapult to easily reach that goal with the signings, first of Juan Soto who came from the Yankees for an astronomical sum, and then with another Yankee, the pitcher Clay Holmes; as well as the retention of Alonso himself and the pitcher Sean Manaea, among others.
