The recovery process Patrick Mahomes is undergoing to be ready for Week 1 of the 2026 season has been remarkable. He has already been seen throwing the ball again after suffering ACL and LCL tears.
In recent videos, he appeared in good shape, although it is still too early to determine whether he is at full strength. It is worth noting that injuries of this nature typically require between eight and ten months of recovery for an average person.
Mahomes was at Texas Tech earlier this week, where he played his college years, to take part in Pro Day and interact with the players at the event.
At 30 years old, he remains one of the best quarterbacks in the entire NFL. This is the first major injury he has suffered since entering the league, which is why his rehabilitation process is being closely monitored.
The most optimistic projections had him returning to action in mid-September; however, he appears to have different plans and is doing everything without rushing to be ready even earlier.

For pitcher NiJaree Canady, Mahomes’ visit was about more than just seeing a star from her university return home; it also meant receiving something special from the quarterback himself.
Mahomes presented her with the AUSL “golden ticket” for the 2026 edition, which took place this past Friday, March 27. With it, she secured a guaranteed selection by one of the six AUSL teams.
Kim Ng, commissioner of the AUSL within the Big 12, was also present, with Mahomes standing alongside her.

NiJaree herself met Mahomes in August 2024 after signing a sponsorship deal with Adidas and Team Patrick Mahomes. She also received a $1.2 million contract to transfer from Stanford to Texas Tech and, in her first year, led the team to compete in the 2025 championship series.
