Patrick Mahomes’ father sends a controversial message to those who blame the Chiefs for benefiting from refereeing decisions

The father of Patrick Mahomes has dismissed claims the Kansas City Chiefs get away with refereeing decisions as nothing but “hate”, as he calls for his 29-year-old son to “light the victory cigars.”

Calls regarding the Chiefs have been a controversial topic for at least a year with fans arguing any 50:50 moment falls the way of the Missouri-based side and thus has helped them retain their dominance in the NFL.

Most recently, this happened in the AFC Championship game against the Buffalo Bills when Josh Allen appeared to cross the line on a fourth down, before being pushed back into his own territory.

The referees concluded he didn’t cross the line for the down and whilst that appears to be the wrong call after extensive reviews by fans, it was a close decision to make. Nonetheless, the Chiefs escaped and went on to secure a 32-29 victory and passage to the Super Bowl.

Fans were left furious, feeling as though yet another decision had incorrectly gone the way of the Arrowhead Stadium natives yet Pat Mahomes Sr. isn’t interested and tells the Chiefs to ignore the noise.

“I’m sure that they hear it,” Pat Mahomes Sr. told Starcade Media. “It’s a good thing. Let them say what they want to.

“What I always say is give the baby something to do. If you do all the crying, what’s the baby going to do.

“Just go out there and keep kicking ass and keep doing your job and let them hate. At the end, you get to hold up the ring. You get to hold the parade. You get to light the victory cigars.”
