Once again, Josh Allen has taken a hit from the front office, and now the criticism has shifted toward general manager Brandon Beane

There is no doubt that the Buffalo Bills are desperate to reach the Super Bowl, especially because many believe that with Josh Allen they have a real chance to achieve it. The problem is that every year they suffer a painful playoff loss. The latest came in the Divisional Round, when they fell in overtime to the Denver Broncos.

The Bills have never won a Super Bowl. However, in the early 1990s the franchise reached four consecutive Super Bowls, and unfortunately they were unable to win any of them. All of those teams were led by quarterback Jim Kelly. After that era came years of disappointment until the arrival of Josh Allen in 2018. Since then they have tried, but have always fallen just short.

It may sound harsh, but next season-just like the last-anything short of a Super Bowl appearance for the Bills will be considered a failure. According to the sportsbook DraftKings, the team now led by Joe Brady is once again the favorite to reach the NFL’s biggest game, even ahead of the Baltimore Ravens and the reigning AFC champions, the New England Patriots.

Criticism over the DJ Moore trade

It is clear that Josh Allen’s offensive weapons over the last two years have been heavily questioned, especially after the team lost Stefon Diggs following the 2023 season. Because of that, the front office led by Brandon Beane was under pressure to provide their quarterback with another weapon, and they surprised many by making a trade with the Chicago Bears to acquire DJ Moore.

At first, the move was welcomed because Moore is a very talented player. However, he is coming off the worst season of his career, with just over 600 yards and 6 touchdowns, although he did deliver in key moments. Still, the criticism quickly turned toward the front office due to the significant investment required.

One of the harshest critiques came from CBS Sports analyst Todd Fuhrman, who said: “Massive win for the Bears… it’s still unclear what the Bills are doing, but at least they can’t blame coach Sean McDermott for this.”

The situation is that the Bills gave up their second-round pick to Chicago and, on top of that, will take on Moore’s massive contract: four years and $98 million.

Only time will tell if the Bills made the right decision. What is clear is that there is no margin for error. Even though DJ Moore is coming off the worst season of his career, he remains a highly talented receiver. He proved it with the Carolina Panthers and later with the Bears alongside quarterback Caleb Williams.

Now he will be catching passes from Josh Allen, who desperately needs playmakers to help the team achieve its ultimate goal: reaching the Super Bowl.
