“PatGPT”: Tony Romo gives Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes a new nickname and compares him to Bills’ Josh Allen

The Kansas City Chiefs have not had the best start to this new NFL season. With two consecutive losses to start the season and a victory over the Giants, criticism has hit the team hard, especially quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

However, during his eight years in the league and now entering his ninth, Mahomes has become a formidable opponent. And former quarterback Tony Romo couldn’t agree more.

Romo gives Patrick a new nickname

Standing out as one of the franchise’s best quarterbacks, the 30-year-old QB has already won three Super Bowl titles and five AFC titles with the Chiefs in his first eight years of his career.

This has led fans and analysts to repeat his name in various conversations, something Romo couldn’t help doing during his appearance on NFL on CBS.

His praise for Pat was endless, and ahead of the game against the Baltimore Ravens, he highlighted Mahomes’ ability to adapt on the fly and compared his playing style to artificial intelligence:

“[He] learns throughout the game better than anybody. That’s his trick,” he said. “He’s an AI. So, it literally is like he is producing information faster than others… He’s sensing everyone’s mannerisms,” Romo added.

The truth is that this ability can make a big difference in the game. Recognizing deceptive defenses, strategies, and weaknesses can give the team a big advantage and provide them with important information about their opponents. That’s why, after Tony’s praise, his co-host Nate Burleson couldn’t help but say:

“I think you just gave him a new nickname: PatGPT,” he said as Romo laughed.

Similarly, Tony pointed out that Patrick isn’t the only one who has learned to read the game as it unfolds, but that it’s something the Buffalo Bills quarterback is also putting into practice:

“That’s what’s happening right now with Josh Allen. You’re seeing him develop that trait to where he is getting to that point to where he is using all the numbers leverage, and really, all the detail that he gets throughout a game,” Romo said.

Allen and the Bills have a perfect 3-0 record, beating the Ravens, Jets, and Dolphins, victories in which they have scored more than 30 points per game.

On the other hand, Kansas City avoided starting the season 0-3 and is already preparing for its next home game, which will be against Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, September 28, at Arrowhead Stadium. The loser will be left with a 1-3 record, a number that is not very encouraging for their Super Bowl aspirations, so Patrick Mahomes and company will be looking for another win. Will they be able to count on PatGPT’s skills?
