Paige Spiranac loses patience as PGA-LIV Golf merger stalls again

The ongoing PGA Tour and LIV Golf merger talks have hit another snag, and Paige Spiranac, the well-known golf influencer, is fed up. On February 25, 2025, she took to X with a blunt four-word plea to PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and his crew: “Just end it now.”

The PGA Tour-LIV Golf merger, first teased in June 2023, remains unresolved nearly two years later. Jay Monahan tried to keep spirits up last August at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, saying, “They’re very complicated discussions… you can’t be anything but hopeful,” according to Golf Digest. But as the 2025 season unfolds, the lack of progress is glaring.

Paige’s “Just end it now” outburst reflects a growing restlessness among fans and players alike. Reports from EssentiallySports suggest Monahan could walk away with a $40 million payout once the deal’s sealed, adding fuel to the fire of those -like Paige- demanding closure.

Paige has long championed a united golf landscape. In 2023, she posted, “Golf is better when the best players in the world are playing together,” highlighting rare moments like the Masters, where PGA and LIV stars drew 6.95 million viewers for the first round-the highest since 2015, per EssentiallySports. Fast forward to 2025, and the divide’s taking a toll.

Spiranac sounds off on PGA-LIV drama: “Golf needs to be united”

The Sentry’s viewership plummeted 34% to 461K, per Sports Media Watch, as stars like Rory McIlroy and Brooks Koepka stay split between tours. Paige’s plea isn’t lone; an X user chimed in, “Paige is right-Monahan’s dragging this out too long,” mirroring the fanbase’s exasperation.

The stakes are rising. LIV Golf’s rumored talks with the LPGA, noted by EssentiallySports on February 15, could shift the power dynamic, leaving the PGA Tour scrambling. Paige’s concise call to action cuts through the clutter, urging Monahan to finalize the merger before golf’s rift widens further.

As the Scouting Combine kicks off today in Indianapolis-per NFL.com-golf could borrow some of that decisive momentum. Will Monahan heed Paige’s words and unify the sport, or will the limbo drag on? The clock’s ticking, and the golf world’s watching.
