Oscar de la Hoya ‘recognizes’ Canelo Alvarez’s greatness: “If you beat him, you go down in history”

Oscar de la Hoya has made clear his animosity with Canelo Alvarez in recent years with constant statements against him.

More than 10 years ago they began a partnership in which the promoter claims that he made Saul Alvarez in the United States, but the relationship ended because the Mexican believes that De La Hoya only takes advantage of boxers.

De la Hoya does not give Terence Crawford a chance against Saul Alvarez

Canelo is in preparation for his fight against William Scull (23-0) on May 3 in Saudi Arabia, but there is more talk about his September fight.

Although nothing is confirmed, it is assumed that in that fight in the United States the opponent will be Terence Crawford, one of the fighters promoted by Turki Alalshikh, who has just signed Alvarez for 2025 and 2026. In this possible duel, the Golden Boy sees the Mexican as the clear favorite.

“I’ve been in this sport for so long and, as a historian, I say: there has never been a good little guy who beats a good big guy, it just hasn’t happened

But a good little man like Crawford has never beaten a good big man like Canelo in the history of the sport. If you beat Canelo you can go down in history as one of the greatest fighters of all time on the planet.

“The exception would be (Manny) Pacquiao to beat me, but that situation was totally different. A little guy like Crawford has never beaten a big guy like Canelo in the history of boxing,” he told FightHype.

When would the Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford fight be?

After facing Scull, Canelo Alvarez will return to the ring on September 13 in Las Vegas and there he would face Crawford, although this fight is not yet confirmed.
