Oscar De La Hoya on hypothetical Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight: “One feels sorry for him”

Oscar De La Hoya, boxing legend and current promoter, did not hold back when commenting on a possible fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao

In recent statements, De La Hoya said that the clash would be completely uneven and that one of the two would end up in a lamentable situation. “You feel sorry for him,” said the former fighter, making it clear that, in his view, style and strategy would make a huge difference.

Why does De La Hoya think it would be an unfair fight?

According to the former champion, Mayweather’s defensive technique and accuracy would make him an almost unbeatable opponent for Pacquiao in this scenario. “Floyd is too smart in the ring, he knows how to neutralize any attack,” explained De La Hoya, highlighting the American’s ability to control the pace and psychologically wear down his opponents.

Age and physical wear

De La Hoya also pointed out that time is not on Pacquiao’s side. At over 45 years of age, the Filipino has shown flashes of quality, but his speed and stamina are no longer the same as in his prime.

Pacquiao would have to take too many risks, and that would put him in a vulnerable position.

An analysis from experience

For the promoter, any attempt by Pacquiao to impose his aggression would end up being neutralized.

Is there a real possibility of this happening?

Although the fight sounds more like speculation than reality, De La Hoya believes that if it were to happen, it would be an unprecedented media event. However, he insists that the outcome would be predictable:

There would be no surprise. Floyd would dominate from start to finish.

A comment that generates debate

De La Hoya’s words have ignited social media, where fans are discussing whether Pacquiao would still have a chance against Mayweather. While some agree with the former champion’s analysis, others believe that the Filipino’s experience and heart could make the difference.
