Former tennis player Ana Ivanovic (38) has filed for divorce from Bastian Schweinsteiger, the 41-year-old former German World Cup-winning footballer, after nine years of marriage.
The couple, who were one of the most high-profile marriages in the sporting world, married in Venice in 2016 and ended their relationship earlier this year.
Christian Schertz, Ivanovic’s representative, announced in July that the couple was separating due to “irreconcilable differences”.
The newspaper ‘Bild’ reports that Ana Ivanovic officially filed for divorce in November at the Munich District Court.
Ivanovic, former world number one and winner of Roland Garros in 2008, is said to have applied for child support in Palma de Mallorca, where she lives with her three children: Luka, Leon and Teo.

In April, Mail Sport reported that Ana Ivanovic and Bastian Schweinsteiger were going through a “deep crisis” due to the tension that their different lifestyles were causing in their marriage.
Schweinsteiger, who was a star at Bayern Munich (2002-15), Manchester United (2015-17) and Chicago Fire (2017-19), is now a television commentator and had to travel frequently.
Ana Ivanovic, on the other hand, chose to spend more time in her native Serbia looking after her three children.
In June, it was reported in the German press that Schweinsteiger was seen kissing his alleged new girlfriend (Silva).
