Olivia Dunne trades Paul Skenes for Jayson Werth in two major events amid her injury

Olivia Dunne and Paul Skenes are never far apart from one another, but it seems they will be when it comes to this year’s Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby.

While Paul is busy preparing himself for the upcoming MLB season with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Dunne is currently sidelined with a knee injury.

Little is known about when she will return to the gymnastics mat, but what we do know is that Dunne will be part of the upcoming Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby.

Sports Illustrated’s Club SI at Churchill Downs will return for another year, and the hosts were recently revealed. Dunne will be joined by former MLB outfielder Jayson Werth on May 2 and May 3.

Last year’s event proved to be a huge hit, and it’s believed that Werth will even host a podcast at the event this time out. As for Dunne, there are few details on if she will be involved in anything big, but there is always time for that to change.

Dunne’s health

As previously mentioned, Dunne is currently dealing with a knee injury that has limited her time on the mat this season.

Head coach Jay Clark recently gave an update on the famous gymnast, noting that Dunne is dealing with a stress reaction in her kneecap-an injury that requires significant rest to heal properly.

“Liv’s knee is still an issue. It isn’t a stress fracture, but it is a stress reaction on her kneecap,” Clark explained. “The only answer for that is rest.”

The injury has limited Dunne to just seven routines so far this season. Her last appearance came in LSU’s narrow loss to Arkansas where she delivered a 9.7 on the floor.

There is no clear timetable on Dunne’s return at this time, but no doubt the highly-ranked Tigers will be keen to welcome her back to the fold as quickly as possible.
