Olivia Dunne continues to take the breath away of thousands of fans who see her as one of the most inspirational athletes in the world, with some brave (or foolish) enough to ask her out, even though she’s has a long-term relationship with Pittsburgh Pirates‘ star pitcher, Paul Skenes.
The former LSU Tigers Gymnastics superstar has transitioned into a model, entrepreneur and social media influencer that continues to show that she’s a determined, hard worker person who’s commited to excellence in all aspects of her life.
“Usually to stay inspired and to keep going I think back to my why. Why I do things, why I wake up every morning and go to the gym, why I still love the sport so just reminding myself of that why really keeps things in perspective,” Dunne told Vuori back in 2024.
Olivia Dunne reacts to mascot’s “flirting”
While her boyfriend Paul Skenes took the mound for the Pittsburgh Pirates against the Detroit Tigers, all eyes weren’t just on the pitching. The Tigers mascot held up a sign saying “Sup Livvy Dunne,” shooting his shot with a bold grin during the game.
Though Dunne didn’t react on camera, she later made her feelings known. Her sharp response quickly made waves, shutting down the flirt in classic Olivia’s fashion without even raising her voice, but strong enough that the whole MLB got put in notice.
The moment had fans joking, cringing, and cheering all at once. Most rallied behind Olivia and Skenes, saying the mascot didn’t stand a chance. One thing’s clear, this couple has major support, and Livvy knows exactly how to handle attention that crosses the line.
Should the Pirates consider trading Paul Skenes?
The Pittsburgh Pirates are having a terrible 2025 season so far, with an awful 32-50 record, which puts the team in last place of the National League Central Division. The offense has struggled, ranking last in the NL in categories such as runs, home runs and On-base Plus Slugging.
Their record, one of the worst in the MLB, resulted in the dismissal of manager Derek Shelton, and while the league’s Pipeline ranked the Pirates’ farm system at No. 14 heading into the season, there don’t appear to be any impact bats headed to the big league team anytime soon.
Skenes is 4-7 in 11 starts this season despite a 2.12 ERA. Paul’s pre-arbitration years should be a time for the Pirates to invest in players, surrounding their young star with talent that might not be as feasible once his salary begins to rise. Instead, Pittsburgh signed a number of players to small one-year deals this offseason, none of whom have helped the Pirates move into the mix in a division many believed was up for grabs.
