ANew York Jets player became the victim of an armed robbery in what authorities believe was a planned attack near his New Jersey home.

The incident, which took place early Saturday morning, involved three armed suspects who allegedly followed the player and another victim for over 30 miles before confronting them in a suburban neighborhood.

The Morristown Department of Public Safety confirmed that officers responded to multiple 911 calls around 8 a.m. from concerned residents reporting an armed robbery in the Windmill Pond community.

Witnesses described seeing a dark-colored SUV pull up before three masked men exited the vehicle, brandishing firearms, and approached another car occupied by two individuals.

“To be honest, I cannot make sense of what happened,” one witness told NBC 4 New York. “I saw them take something from the garage – I was thinking, ‘Oh my God, this is a robbery.'”

The assailants reportedly demanded money and valuables before fleeing the scene. While police have not confirmed the identity of the Jets player, sources claim he was one of the two victims. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the attack.

High-Profile Figures Increasingly Targeted

Authorities believe the robbery was not a random act, but rather a deliberate effort to target the NFL player. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of high-profile athletes and public figures, particularly in areas once considered safe from such crimes.

“You have high-profile people that get targeted as they go out into the city and otherwise,” a neighbor told NBC 4 New York. “It’s disconcerting, but there’s really nothing we can do about it. You just have to hope it doesn’t happen again.”

Despite assurances from police that the incident was isolated, the brazen nature of the attack has left the community on edge. Law enforcement officials are continuing their investigation, though no suspects have been arrested.

The Morristown Department of Public Safety and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office have not yet responded to media inquiries. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to identify and apprehend those responsible.
