NBA players declare the best golfers within the player’s fraternity: Stephen Curry and Austin Reaves heralded as the best

Basketball players have long been associated with pursuits beyond the hardwood, and golf has consistently drawn their attention. Figures such as Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan were known for their time on the fairways, while current stars continue the tradition with growing enthusiasm. Among today’s generation, golf has become a genuine competitive outlet, raising the question of who holds the unofficial title of the NBA‘s best golfer.

The NBA recently highlighted this debate on its official X account, sharing a video in which several players were asked to identify the league’s most skilled golfer. The responses revealed both respect and rivalry, particularly surrounding Stephen Curry, Austin Reaves, and Pat Connaughton, with other names such as Devin Booker also entering the discussion.

Austin Reaves was among the first to voice his view, stating that he considers himself a top contender and would welcome a one-on-one round against Curry.

While confident in his ability, he acknowledged the challenge posed by the Golden State Warriors guard, whose reputation as a golfer is well established. Reaves’s claim was met with mixed responses, though his name remained in contention throughout the discussion.

Jalen Brunson was more direct in his assessment, calling Curry the clear frontrunner. His reasoning was simple: Curry’s reputation as the “greatest” golfer among NBA players has become almost self-evident, echoed by several other voices. Jayson Tatum also weighed in, referencing his experiences playing alongside Curry and Devin Booker. While he stopped short of declaring a definitive winner, Tatum hinted that Booker may have shown impressive ability during their shared rounds.

Curry himself approached the debate with confidence tempered by acknowledgment of his peers. He confirmed his belief that he belongs at the top but also credited Reaves and Connaughton as strong competitors. By identifying rivals rather than dismissing them, Curry reinforced both his competitive edge and the mutual respect that shapes the conversation.

Connaughton, representing the Milwaukee Bucks, returned the compliment by naming Curry and Reaves as the most consistent performers, while also noting that both had yet to accept his personal challenge. His remark underscored the playful yet competitive nature of the discussion, where acknowledgment is balanced with invitations to settle matters directly on the course.

Curry’s standing in NBA golf culture

The collective responses reveal a hierarchy that, while not formally established through competition, is widely recognized among peers. Curry emerges as the central figure, consistently mentioned across interviews and conversations. His prominence stems not only from technical skill but also from a visible dedication to the sport, including appearances in celebrity tournaments and charity events.

Reaves, though less experienced at the professional level, is building a reputation that places him close behind. Connaughton, meanwhile, remains eager to prove his place through direct competition, adding a layer of rivalry that keeps the debate alive. Booker, highlighted by Tatum, represents another potential challenger, showing that the conversation extends beyond the headline names.

The video circulated by the NBA illustrates more than a casual pastime-it highlights how golf has become an arena for NBA players to display precision, discipline, and camaraderie away from basketball. While opinions vary, consensus leans strongly toward Stephen Curry as the foremost golfer among active players, with others eager to test that judgment in future contests.
