More trouble for Diego Pavia? He allegedly smashed a fan’s iPhone after being spotted at a bar

A social media tip has sparked chatter around Diego Pavia just hours before the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. An anonymous message sent to Old Row Sports alleges that the quarterback broke a fan’s iPhone after being photographed at a bar the night before the showcase event.

There is no official confirmation of what happened, who was involved, or whether Pavia is even the person in the image circulating online. Still, the claim-and the photos attached-have fueled debate across football circles at a sensitive moment for a draft-eligible player.

According to the tipster, a photo was taken inside a bar showing a man in a gray hoodie speaking with a woman. The hoodie partially covers the left side of the man’s face, making identification difficult. A second image shows a phone with a visibly cracked screen. The message accompanying the photos implies Pavia was responsible for the damage.

Importantly, the images do not clearly show Pavia’s face, and no witnesses or venue staff have corroborated the allegation.

What the photos show-and what they don’t about Pavia

The gray sweatshirt in the image appears similar to one Pavia has worn publicly, including during a recent appearance on The Pivot podcast. That visual similarity is part of why the claim gained traction. But clothing alone is not proof of identity, and the low-light bar photo leaves room for multiple interpretations.

The tipster’s message suggests the phone was damaged after the picture was taken. However, there is no video, timestamp, or independent account confirming how the screen cracked-or who caused it. It’s also possible, as some observers have noted, that someone else in the group could have been involved, or that the device was damaged accidentally.

The situation has drawn comparisons to a November 2024 incident involving Jason Kelce, who grabbed and smashed a fan’s phone at Penn State after an insult directed at his brother. In Pavia’s case, though, there is no verified evidence of a confrontation, and no statement from the player or his representatives.

Timing raises eyebrows ahead of Senior Bowl for Pavia

The timing of the allegation is notable. The Senior Bowl is a high-visibility event for prospects looking to boost their draft stock in front of NFL scouts and executives. Any off-field controversy-substantiated or not-can quickly become part of the narrative.

Pavia has developed a reputation as a confident, energetic personality, and he has openly embraced social settings in the past. But being seen at a bar the night before a major pre-draft event is not, by itself, a violation of any rule. The central claim here is the alleged phone damage, and that remains unverified.

As of now, neither Pavia nor Vanderbilt officials have commented publicly. Without clearer images, witness accounts, or statements, the story remains an allegation circulating online rather than a confirmed incident.

For Pavia, the focus will likely remain on his performance. For everyone else, this serves as a reminder of how quickly unverified claims can spread-especially when a camera, a cracked screen, and a recognizable hoodie are involved.
