MLB analyst warns Dodgers that Mets will cause them a lot of problems in 2025

Pete Alonso’s novel had a happy ending after many weeks of uncertainty and questions about the future of the veteran baseball player, who ended up signing a $54 million contract with the New York Mets.

With this, the New Yorkers are a very dangerous team, so much so that they could make any of the other 29 MLB teams tremble, including the champions Los Angeles Dodgers.

The 30-year-old was a key part of the Mets’ run to the National League Championship Series, where they lost to the Dodgers.

By 2025, the Mets acquired Dominican Juan Soto, and managed to keep Alonso in a very complete roster that looks powerful and should be considered among the favorites ahead of the start of the MLB preseason.

Mets lineup on par with Dodgers

Ben Verlander, brother of pitcher Justin Verlander and a renowned Major League Baseball analyst, did not hesitate to rank the Mets among the best teams in all of MLB, even on a par with the champion Dodgers.

“This Mets lineup is one of the best in baseball. Francisco Alvarez, their catcher, said the other day that it is the best in MLB and better than the Dodgers,” Verlander said.

“I don’t know if they’ll go that far, but the Mets’ lineup, with the return of Pete Alonso, was a necessary addition for them, it makes them very good and very competitive in the National League,” he added. “It gives them every chance to beat the Dodgers in the playoffs. There are a handful of teams, in my opinion, that are good enough in a five- or seven-game series to beat the Dodgers.”

“The Mets are one of them and this signing of Pete Alonso was very important for them. So Pete returns to the Mets, with a two-year, $54 million contract and an opt-out clause.”

Since Alonso made his MLB debut in 2019 with the Mets, he has established himself as an elite player, as well as being the home run leader in all of MLB in 2019 and RBI leader in 2022.
