The offseason moves made by the should ensure that the Queens team plays a leading role in the new Major League Baseball season, and that is no secret to anyone, as one of the most powerful teams in the league has plenty of reasons to reach the postseason and why not the World Series
The Mets and their fearsome offense
With thebrutal signing of Juan Soto that left the Yankees to go with their city ‘enemies’ and retaining Pete Alonso after a months-long soap opera, the Mets boast one of the most dominant offenses that could take on anyone.
And that is precisely the perspective of Fox Sports analyst Ben Verlander, brother of future Hall of Famer Justin Verlander, who said on his show, ‘Flippin’ Bats with Ben Verlander’, that the Queens will be a tough nut to crack in the National League East: “You could tell me that Juan Soto goes absolutely crazy and that he and Pete Alonso are an amazing combination. Honestly, Lindor, Soto and Alonso are an incredible top end of the lineup, no matter how you look at it, they’re going to be really good.”
Ben Verlander: “I’m excited about these Mets”
Verlander justified his claim – which many may find obvious – by talking about the depth of his roster, which also features young stars such as Mark Vientos, Francisco Alvarez and Brett Baty: “I’m excited about the New York Mets for a lot of different reasons. Mark Vientos was fantastic once he came up in 2024. I think Francisco Alvarez takes a big step forward. Brett Baty has looked really good in spring training, is this the year he figures it out? There’s a lot of reasons for optimism about this New York Mets offense.”
And if we add to this the fact that the Mets have a sufficient rotation on the mound with a combination of veterans such as Kodai Senga, Sean Manaea and Clay Holmes, with prospects such as Dylan Cease, who could arrive from the San Diego Padres, and Sandy Alcantara who would arrive urgently from the Marlins, the equation would be complete, but it would be well into the campaign.
