Almost a year has passed since the fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, but the fight is still making waves. Tyson, who has been out of action for more than two decades, returned to the ring to face the YouTuber boxer at the AT&T Stadium at the age of 58. The former heavyweight champion stood his ground during the eight rounds, although he lost by unanimous decision on the scorecards: 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73.

However, the fight was considered more media-driven than explosive, leaving thousands of boxing fans frustrated by a fight without much exchange of punches as they expected. Mike Tyson barely landed any punches in the early rounds, while Paul had control of the action showing more speed and mobility.

And although both were respectful at the end of the fight and exchanged words, social networks were filled with comments about a supposed “fixed show” to benefit Jake.

Amer Abdallah, Mike Tyson’s manager, denies theories about a fixed fight

Amid the wave of comments and speculation about the fight on November 15, 2024, Amer Abdallah, Mike Tyson’s manager and trainer, categorically denied that there was any kind of fixing during an interview with The Sun Sport:

I know it sounds like a cliche, but I’m proud of a 58-year-old man who came in and did things that 20-year-olds couldn’t do. Mike gave his best every day in the gym

Abdallah said Tyson took the fight and his preparation very seriously, working “five or six days a week” with a team of professionals. He also completely denied rumors of a supposed “rigged show”:

They always say to me, ‘Was there a deal? Was there something?’ And I’ll tell you the answer is absolutely no

What’s next for Mike Tyson and Jake Paul in boxing?

Despite that defeat, Mike Tyson continues to receive multiple offers to fight again, and his team recently confirmed that there are advanced talks for a possible exhibition fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2026, although nothing is official at this time.

On the other hand, Jake Paul is scheduled to fight Gervonta Davis in an exhibition bout on November 14 in Miami, a fight that has also generated a lot of controversy due to the difference in weight. The fight is scheduled for 10 rounds at 195 pounds and Paul has announced that there will be a million-dollar bonus for the fighter who scores a KO.
