Mike Tyson was used by Evander Holyfield’s daughter against her own father over a traumatic moment

Eve Holyfield, daughter of boxing legend Evander Holyfield, has stirred up a mix of laughter, surprise, and discomfort on social media after posting a video where she takes things to far with Mike Tyson and his father.

Some found it funny, but others couldn’t help but see it as a “disrespect”, quotes very much intended, to her father. Let’s not forget that this wasn’t exactly a laughing matter for Holyfield, who ended up with part of his ear bitten off in a fight that became one of the most shocking moments in boxing history.

In the track Webbie Flow by rapper Big Yavo, Eve enthusiastically delivers a verse that directly references one of the most traumatic moments in her father’s career:

The scene took place on June 28, 1997, during the highly anticipated rematch between Tyson and Holyfield at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. In the third round, Tyson, frustrated with how the fight was going, lost control and bit off a chunk of Holyfield’s ear. The referee immediately disqualified Tyson, and the incident sparked a media frenzy that’s still talked about today.

Now, decades later, that bite has made its way back into pop culture, this time courtesy of Eve, who seems to have decided that her last name -and her dad’s ear- can also have some flow. The exact lyric in the song says: “Bite his ear off like I’m Tyson,” and while she didn’t write the line, the confidence with which she raps it makes it clear she doesn’t take the incident nearly as seriously as her father once did.

Eve, who has worked as a model and dabbled in entertainment, seems comfortable playing with her family’s legacy, no matter how painful or iconic, and some fans even applauded her boldness.

Bars or emotional uppercut for dad? That’s up to Holyfield, though now the old trauma comes with a beat.
