What looked like it was going to be a long and award-winning comeback, came to an end. Mike Tyson announced his retirement and will never step into the ring again.

After his exhibition bout against Jake Paul six months ago and breaking ratings records, there was talk of the possibility of the former heavyweight champion facing Jake’s brother, Logan. However, in the wake of the defeat, Tyson’s own family was quick to issue a statement saying the 58-year-old boxer’s fights were over for good.

Now, nearly half a year later, the boxer himself has confirmed his retirement in a recent interview with Men’s Health:

“The only person I fight now is my accountant. Other than that, I’m just living life and right now I’m doing well.

This decision has been welcomed by his fans in the best way, as his health condition and age were some of the factors that worried them.

As for his opponent, Paul plans to announce his next fight soon as he would seek a rematch with Tommy Fury and has even talked about fighting Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. However, nothing is set in stone and he may choose an opponent with a lesser known name.
