Just a couple of weeks ago, when Super Bowl XL took place, many thought the main points of interest were about to happen on the field, forgetting that, inside some offices, the future of several players and franchises was being debated and planned.

When the confetti was removed from the Levi’s Stadium once the celebrations finished, an unexpected and hard message made its way to head coach Mike Macdonald. What he was told, and how he chose to respond, adds another layer of secrets to a night full of emotion, happiness, and why not… disappointment.

A message from Tom Brady

It seems that right after the final play, Macdonald kept receiving congratulatory messages from a lot of people, even though some had some hidden clues. During an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, he was asked about those chats, and Macdonald, with a visible smile, confirmed that Tom Brady had actually reached out to him, calling it ‘pretty cool’.

He did reply to Brady’s messages saying:

“I told him, ‘Thanks for stealing our offensive coordinator

Klint Kubiak and his journey to Las Vegas

Kubiak officially changed the cold temperature of Seattle to the extra warm Vegas in order to become the head coach of the Raiders. The appointment was heavily influenced by Tom Brady, who reportedly met with Kubiak during the interview process.

At his 38, Kubiak arrives in Las Vegas with immense future expectations. His resume includes some stops in New Orleans and San Francisco, and he carries the pedigree of his father, Gary Kubiak. Now, he faces a different kind of pressure. The Raiders are coming off a difficult 3-14 season, but they hold the No. 1 overall draft pick, expected to be filled by Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza.

While Macdonald and the Seahawks keep celebrating their second title in franchise history, the loss of Kubiak will leave a significant gap in Seattle. Macdonald’s quip to Brady highlights the modern NFL reality that success often leads to a departure as winning coordinators are poached by teams looking for a new spark.
