Micah Parsons makes strong promise after Zack Martin’s supposed NFL retirement

One of the most decorated offensive linemen to ever step on a football field reportedly retired Thursday night when Zack Martin met with the Dallas Cowboys to inform them he was retiring.

During his illustrious 11-year career with the Cowboys, Martin was selected to the Pro Bowl nine times and was named a first-team All-Pro in seven of those 11 seasons, tied with Hall of Famers Bob Lilly and Randy White for the most in franchise history.

Perhaps more impressive than his All-Pro selections was the fact that he had only seven accepted holding penalties against him in a career in which he played more than 6,500 snaps.

List of Cowboys NFL stars who didn’t make it to a SB

After the news of Martin’s retirement broke, a social media account highlighted the elite Cowboys players who never made it to a Super Bowl with the team.

“Players from this era who never made it to the Super Bowl with Dallas are Tony Romo, Jason Witten, Zack Martin, DeMarcus Ware, Tyron Smith, Dez Bryant, Sean Lee, Travis Frederick, Ezekiel Elliott. Legacies could have been different,” the tweet read.

Micah Parsons makes a strong promise

The list of names began to circulate on social media and eventually caught the attention of star linebacker Micah Parsons, who guaranteed he will put an end to that list. “That list is coming to an end!” he said on social media Thursday night.

Parsons made headlines earlier in the day when he offered a blunt message to critics, such as Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor, from his podcast.

“He’s a great player,” Taylor said. “But guys, let’s do more. Let’s play more football and less podcasts.”

Parsons responded: “Haha, I wonder if people hate my podcast because it’s good or if they hate it because it’s bad. Because a lot of people in the NBA and NFL have podcasts and nobody has a problem.”

Parsons and the Cowboys are coming off a disappointing 2024 season in which the team parted ways with head coach Mike McCarthy in favor of former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.
