Micah Parsons has revealed that Jerry Jones did not personally reach out to him following his trade from the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers further highlighting the fractured relationship between the star and owner.
It has been nearly a month since Dallas finalized the shocking deal that sent Parsons to Green Bay, a move capped a long-running contract standoff, during which the linebacker sought an extension that Jones refused to grant.
Instead, the Cowboys owner made dismissive comments in the media, deepening the rift as the 26-year-old eventually insisted he wants to play his football for a different team.
Parsons has always maintained that his preference was to remain in Dallas long term and retire as a Cowboy. However, he has openly acknowledged that the perceived lack of respect from Jones left him feeling betrayed.
Now, as the Packers prepare to face the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football, he is addressing questions about his high-profile return to AT&T Stadium as he reveals Jones never even spoke to him.
“I never even heard from Jerry Jones himself when I got traded,” Parsons said. “I found out through my agent.
” I haven’t talked to Jerry Jones since OTAs.”
The claim reinforces reports that Jones had been frustrated with how negotiations unfolded, believing he and Parsons had an understanding outside the involvement of the linebacker’s agent.
The breakdown in communication left one of the most talented players in franchise history departing without so much as a conversation with ownership at the AT&T Stadium.
For Cowboys supporters, the revelation is particularly painful. Parsons, a four-time Pro Bowler and one of the most impactful defensive players of the past decade, is seen by many as a generational talent who should have anchored the team for years.
Regardless, he insists he isn’t out for revenge as he told reporters that his priority remains executing on the field and helping Green Bay stay competitive in the Week 4 game with Dallas.
Still, the spotlight on this matchup is undeniable, and the Cowboys‘ offensive line is bracing for the intensity Parsons is expected to bring. If there is any lingering resentment toward Jones, it may well translate into one of Parsons’ fiercest performances.
Parsons sends message to CeeDee Lamb amid Cowboys star’s saddening injury
While his relationship with Jones has soured, Parsons continues to maintain close ties with former teammates. One of those is wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who recently suffered a high ankle sprain that is expected to keep him out for roughly a month.
He also drew on his own experience with the same injury last season, explaining that he has been in contact with Lamb to provide support and guidance during his recovery. Their friendship, forged over four seasons in Dallas, has endured the turbulence of Parsons‘ exit.
“I’m just praying for him,” Parsons said. “And hoping he comes back soon.
“Because I told him the standard. You still need 1000 yards regardless.”
