Play ball is about to be called in Major League Baseball. Baseball fans are more than eager for the first pitch to be thrown on the diamond after a long break.

It will be next Thursday, March 26, 2026, when the games begin and it is expected that many people will attend the fields to support their team. And with this in mind, the New York Mets have their young player Carson Benge ready.

Carson Benge has been scheduled for the opener to face the Pittsburgh Pirates. There is tremendous excitement about the outfielder to start throwing his best pitches.

During spring training, he really stood out. He made it clear that he is 100% and at the top of his game to be given the great responsibility of being the starter and letting his shots fly.

Carson Benge wants to start making a name for himself with the New York Mets

Benge is ranked as the Mets’ number two prospect, and MLB Pipeline ranks him as the number 16 prospect in all of MLB. Carson is 23 years old and his time in the minor leagues was truly spectacular.

The management was the one that gave him the opportunity to be the first pitcher of the ninth. The opportunity is ready for the rookie to start to shine. It should be remembered that Mike Tauchman was injured and this gave him a very big window of opportunity to show himself.

He is also an outfielder who has very good defensive skills, and alongside Juan Soto is expected to also perform at his best. He is very fast and also very skillful at throwing the ball.

Benge was selected in the 2024 draft with the 19th overall pick. He studied at Oklahoma State University. After what was seen in spring training, he left very good feelings that he will perform from the initial pitch.

Although his performance will be more from right field and as a starter, people are already starting to get to know him much better with his team.
