The young striker and World Cup winner in Russia 2018, Kylian Mbappe, has just equaled a record held by one of Real Madrid’s greatest players, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Kylian Mbappe equals Cristiano Ronaldo’s Champions League record

The French striker shook off the ghosts that have been haunting Real Madrid since the beginning of 2026 in a match that was extremely important for the club’s morale, as well as for their hopes of qualifying directly for the next phase without having to go through the Champions League playoffs. The Spanish club hosted Ligue 1 side Monaco at the Santiago Bernabeu

The visiting club fell to the Merengues six goals to one, where the team’s top scorer, Kylian Mbappe, managed to score two goals, equalling the all-time record of Cristiano Ronaldo in the group stage of the Champions League.

Mbappe managed to score 11 goals in six Champions League group stage matches, reaching the tally that the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo achieved in the 2015-16 Champions League season. Exactly 10 seasons later, the World Cup winner in Russia equalled his childhood idol.

Vinicius Junior, like Mbappe, is looking for Cristiano Ronaldo’s record

The Brazilian is a very important part of the club’s forward line and in the 6-1 thrashing of Monaco, Vini managed to become the best assist provider in the Champions League, taking into account from his debut in the 2018-19 season until today, surpassing his teammate Mbappe

The second record was to become the second best assist provider in Real Madrid’s history in the Champions League, surpassing Karim Benzema and only behind CR7.

Vinicius has 28 assists with Real Madrid in the Champions League, leaving behind the legendary Frenchman Karim Benzema, who has only 27. With this, the Brazilian is now looking to reach the numbers of Cristiano Ronaldo, where the Portuguese has 31 assists, only three above the young striker who this season could reach and surpass one of the greatest idols in soccer.
