Marlon Humphrey breaks silence on John Harbaugh’s shocking exit as Ravens look to a new future

The Baltimore Ravens has shocked the entire NFL landscape in the recent hours as they officially parted ways with head coach John Harbaugh on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. After an 18-year tenure that redefined the franchise’s identity, the departure marks the end of an era for one of the league’s most respected leaders.

While the news was met with a mix of surprise and debate, star cornerback Marlon Humphrey was among the first to offer a sincere, human tribute to his long-time coach.

Humphrey’s short but sweet tribute

Marlon Humphrey, a cornerstone of the Ravens’ defense since being drafted in 2017, took to social media to share a deep yet powerful message.

“John Harbaugh. A good man,”

Marlon Humphrey

For him, who has earned four Pro Bowl nods and two First-team All-Pro honors under Harbaugh’s tutelage, the coach was more than just a strategist, he was the only NFL leader the cornerback had ever known. In a locker room where reports of lost focus had begun to surface, Humphrey’s public stance served as a reminder of a culture built on integrity and mutual respect.

The loud silence of Lamar Jackson

While Humphrey and legends like Ed Reed and Torrey Smith quickly voiced their appreciation and respect, the football world noted a significant silence from star quarterback Lamar Jackson. He, who became a two-time MVP after Harbaugh famously adapted the Ravens’ offensive scheme to fit his unique dual-threat style in 2018, has not released any statement.

Following the last loss, a visibly affected Jackson declined to support his coach’s future, stating he was too caught up in what just happened to focus on 2026. This lack of public support fueled speculation that the relationship between the coach and his franchise quarterback had reached a turning point. Which it did.

Despite the recent struggles, John Harbaugh leaves Baltimore as the winningest coach in franchise history with 180 victories and a Super Bowl XLVII ring.
