Real Madrid comfortably defeated Girona 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu, with a stunning goal from Luka Modric and a strike from Vinicius to seal the win.

The first 15 minutes were end-to-end, with the duo of Vinicius and Mbappe increasingly in sync. Kylian had the clearest chance with a run in which he shot from the edge of the area, but Gazzaniga saved it.

Almost in the 30th minute, Mbappe put a measured cross on the head of Vini, but the Brazilian shot over the crossbar, while Girona knocked on the door for the second time with a shot from Viktor Tsyhankov

Los Blancos dominated the match, but were unable to reflect this on the scoreboard until Luka Modric appeared with a piece of magic, in which he controlled the ball with his chest and from outside the area launched a rocket that sought the top corner, out of the reach of Gazzaniga, to score a great goal before going to the break and score again at the Bernabeu after 364 days.

Vinicius breaks the drought

In the second half, in combination with Mbappe, Vinicius finally found the net and scored the 2-0 win for Madrid.

Mbappe, who came into the match on the back of his Champions League hat-trick, and although he did not score, it was evident the harmony he already has with Vinicius, who after a one-two in a counter-attack, assisted him to score in LaLiga, after not doing so since November 9

With the victory, Madrid ended a run of three games without a win in La Liga and kept the competition for the lead alive, following Saturday’s victories for Barcelona and Atletico.
