Luka Doncic has reignited one of the most passionate debates in global sports after drawing a striking comparison between Lionel Messi and Michael Jordan.

In a brief clip shared by the official Los Angeles FIFA World Cup Instagram page, Dallas Mavericks star compared big name soccer players with NBA greats.

He paired Erling Haaland with a “young Kevin Durant,” Kylian Mbappé with Nikola Jokic, and Vinícius Junior with Steph Curry.

When it came to stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, he did not hesitate.

He paired Ronaldo with LeBron James, and Messi with Michael Jordan.

Fans quickly picked up on the Messi-Jordan and Ronaldo-LeBron parallels. Messi, like Jordan, represents a standard of excellence and dominance that few athletes in any sport reach, while Ronaldo‘s physical prowess and global influence make the LeBron comparison feel natural.

Other pairings, such as Mbappé with Jokic or Vinícius Jr.with Curry, focus on versatility, playmaking, and the ability to change the outcome of a game with individual brilliance.

Doncic’s brilliance shines in Lakers latest game

Doncic exploded for 43 points and led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 137-130 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night, delivering one of his most dominant performances of the season in a game that reinforced why he remains one of the NBA’s most feared offensive players.

Doncic was on fire early and often, scoring 21 points just in the first quarter as the Lakers jumped out to a 45-28 lead. He finished 15 of 30 from the field, a volume shooting night that helped keep Los Angeles ahead in a highscoring contest.

Besides his scoring, Doncic distributed the ball effectively with seven assists and also contributed six rebounds, showcasing his allaround impact.

His performance tonight continued a recent pattern of offensive dominance; earlier this month, he had a stretch that included multiple 40point games and even a 60point outing.

With key Lakers players like Marcus Smart, Rui Hachimura, and DeAndre Ayton out of the lineup due to injuries, Doncic and LeBron James took on heavy offensive loads for Los Angeles. James nearly recorded a tripledouble with 23 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists, helping support Doncic‘s scoring barrage.

Doncic‘s strong first quarter set the tone. Getting to an early lead allowed the Lakers to withstand a late push from the Pacers in the fourth quarter and hold on for the win. Despite the game staying competitive, Doncic‘s scoring temperament and ability to create for others proved decisive in the final outcome.
