Love cures all. Since time immemorial it has been the best remedy for any ailment. Just look at the couple of Livvy Dunne and Paul Skenes to corroborate it. She is the most effective medicine for the Pirates pitcher at the moment, because he is a pot of emotions. Undoubtedly, and from what they show, they look very committed. They are made for each other.

It has been an emotional few weeks for the pitcher. He won the National League Cy Young Award, a prize he enjoyed with Livvy from the announcement until he had it in his hands. It was a moment of great joy for both of them because it consolidates an extraordinary season that he had on the mound. But not everything is rosy.

I’ve had a month to reflect after the season ended on what it means. That’s the conclusion I’ve come to: that it doesn’t change anything about the season I had, whether I win or not. I thought the same way when I won Rookie of the Year last year. It’s a tremendous honor, but we play this game because we love the game. We love to pitch and win

During this market period, Skenes has been at the center of the news because of the alleged interest he has in leaving Pittsburgh as soon as possible to go to a winning team like the Yankees. This situation leads him to deal with the informational pressure that affects the interior of the team. It is not for nothing that he had to come out and clarify that he is happy with the organization and will continue to be a Pirate in 2026.

To relax, forget everything and enjoy their relationship, Paul Skenes and Livvy Dunne went to Hawaii. They stayed at a resort in Kauai to celebrate the wedding of Paul’s Pirates teammate Jared Jones to his partner Rylie Fox. In addition to accompanying the newlyweds, they also strengthened their bonds with each other.

With time in the pool, beach getaways, swimming in the sea and riding together in golf carts, Dunne and Skenes have taken advantage of the mini-vacation. The last thing he wants to think about right now is baseball. He is focused on keeping his mind calm and being with his girlfriend, who has supported him every step of the way in his professional career as a pitcher.

Skenes’ emotional battle against his rejection of defeat

Mentally, Paul Skenes has had a hectic year. Behind the Cy Young he won is a story of struggle and resistance against himself not to give up and throw in the towel as a pitcher. Speaking on The Dan Patrick Show, he shared that it was a bittersweet season because the results were not favorable for the team and because he could not help Pittsburgh finish in a better position. He admitted that losing hurts him, that he finds it difficult to deal with defeat.

It’s tough not showing up to the ballpark every day and feeling bitter sometimes, especially when we’re on a seven- or eight-game losing streak. I think at the end of the day it’s about being professional. I’ve learned more and more how to be the same person every day. It’s energizing to think about what it could be like when we win. That’s the thing that gets me up in the morning

The Pirates finished last in their division with a losing record of 71-91. One of Skenes’ goals for next season is to get the team to finish second in the National League Central.
