Since Lionel Messi arrived at Inter Miami and the MLS in July 2023, he has continued his legacy by scoring more than seventy goals, assisting on 44 occasions, and winning titles such as the 2023 Leagues Cup, the 2024 MLS Supporters’ Shield, and his most recent achievement, becoming Major League Soccer champions for the first time.

However, among his rivals, Leo has scored more goals against two teams than any other.

Messi’s favorite teams to score against

The Inter Miami captain is the second highest scorer in history with 896 goals, behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s 958.

With the Argentina national team, Lionel has scored 115 goals, but it was during his time at Barcelona that he scored the most, with 672 goals. At Paris Saint-Germain, he scored 32, and with the MLS club, Leo has already scored 77 times in 88 games.

However, the league’s official X account (formerly Twitter) has released the distribution of the “10” player’s 50 goals, although one detail in particular caught the eye.

The truth is that Leo has scored seven times against two teams: New England Revolution and Nashville SC, making them his two favorite victims, against whom Leo has scored the most goals.

Rounding out the top three are the New York Red Bulls, who have suffered five goals to the Argentine.

Despite this, there are seven teams that have only conceded one goal to Leo: Minnesota United FC, Charlotte FC, Colorado Rapids, Sporting Kansas City, Seattle Sounders FC, St. Louis CITY SC, and Toronto FC.

Meanwhile, Messi and Inter Miami are preparing for the 2026 season, where they will have to defend their titles, inaugurate their new stadium (Miami Freedom Park), and readjust their game and roster, which will no longer include stars such as Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.
