They say revenge is a dish best served cold, and Lexie Hull knows this well. The Indiana Fever guard waited almost six months for the perfect moment to get back at her teammate, Caitlin Clark, for teasing her about her tan, reminding her of her characteristic paleness.
If there’s one thing that has distinguished Clark’s Fever, it’s camaraderie. The players don’t just support each other on the court; their friendship often extends beyond the arena, including social media.
Last May, just before the start of the 2025 WNBA season, Sophie Cunningham shared some photos on Instagram of herself and Hull during the team’s photoshoot in their new uniforms.
With the season just days away, Clark couldn’t resist a playful jab: “A little less tanning. A little more bball, ladies.” Hull wasn’t about to let the joke go, even though she had to wait almost half a year to get her revenge.
Lexie strikes back: the barb that took six months to return to Clark
In a recent interview with People magazine during the Glamour Women of the Year event, Hull took the opportunity to talk about the now-infamous photoshoot. “She definitely jokes about it,” the guard admitted.
She explained that Clark often “makes comments here and there, but it’s all in good fun.” Even so, she and Cunningham didn’t hesitate to “give her a hard time” for her joke back then.
Now, taking advantage of the interview, the Fever guard couldn’t resist throwing another barb at Clark, reminding her of her pale complexion and suggesting that “She could probably use a little sun herself.”
Despite everything, Lexie and Caitlin remain BFFs
Between jokes and laughter, Hull and Clark are great friends. “She’s one of my best friends on the team,” the guard said, “and it’s been amazing growing together and chasing the same goals.”
She affirmed that there’s a natural connection between them.
“We push each other in practice, but also have so much fun. It’s a good balance of competitiveness and friendship.”
This connection propelled the Fever to the semifinals of the 2025 season, where they nearly defeated the eventual champions, the Las Vegas Aces. Now, with Clark and Cunningham healthy again, the team hopes their friendship will take them one step further.
