Speculation is growing around Lamar Jackson’s future, and one bold scenario has the two-time MVP landing in Las Vegas, where an AFC West move could reignite debates about rivaling Patrick Mahomes.
The idea remains theoretical, yet league insiders believe the Raiders represent a rare destination where ambition, cap flexibility, and urgency could converge around a franchise-altering quarterback decision.
Baltimore, however, continues to project certainty. Following the dismissal of head coach John Harbaugh, owner Steve Bisciotti has reiterated that Jackson remains the unquestioned cornerstone of the Ravens.
After an 8-9 season that ended Baltimore’s playoff streak, Bisciotti emphasized the importance of stability, making clear the organization intends to secure Jackson with a long-term extension before March.
Despite those assurances, rumours have persisted, fueled by the scale of Jackson‘s contract and a league-wide appetite for blockbuster moves that can instantly reset competitive trajectories.
Jeremy Fowler reported that the idea has gained traction in league circles, noting that several insiders tracking offseason scenarios identified Jackson as a potential Raider in bold predictions.
“This potential pairing has made its way through the rumor mill, and multiple people I spoke with who track such things used their one bold prediction in this exercise to designate Jackson a Raider,” Fowler wrote for ESPN.
The appeal is obvious. A move to Las Vegas would immediately elevate the Raiders’ ceiling, while placing Jackson in direct competition with Mahomes inside the AFC West.
“It just seems like there’s been some consternation there with Lamar and the Ravens, and this would be the ultimate Mark Davis move,” an NFL personnel evaluator told ESPN.
“I’m not even convinced everybody with Vegas would be on board with it, but it would instantly solve their quarterback problems.”
From a football perspective, the fit would be transformative, even if internal alignment remains uncertain, because Jackson‘s presence would redefine expectations overnight.
Financial pressure adds complexity. Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta recently highlighted that Jackson carries a projected $74.5 million cap hit in 2026.
That figure represents nearly a quarter of the anticipated league cap, limiting flexibility and forcing difficult decisions around roster depth and long-term planning.

While Jackson‘s future draws attention, John Harbaugh has already turned the page, beginning a new chapter as head coach of the New York Giants.
The end in Baltimore was abrupt, coming after a Week 18 loss to Pittsburgh that closed the door on postseason hopes and ended an 18-season tenure.
Harbaugh appeared energized at his introductory press conference, projecting optimism rather than regret as he outlined his vision for a Giants franchise seeking renewal.
He revealed that one of his first calls after the dismissal was to longtime mentor Andy Reid, a figure whose own career arc offered perspective.
“Andy is a man of few words and his four words to me were: ‘Change can be good,'” Harbaugh said. “That’s what he said.
“Change can be good. He was excited. He’s fired up for us. He’s a good friend. …
“How about we do this. We’ll sign up for that deal right now, what he did in Kansas City. Let’s do that.”
