The end of an ‘era’. Specifically, Kevin De Bruyne’s at Manchester City. The Belgian footballer has announced in an official statement that he will leave the ‘citizen’ club at the end of the current season. He will leave the market as a free agent after a long and brilliant 10-year spell as a star of the ‘sky blue’ team

“These will be my last months as a Manchester City player,” declared KDB. He arrived at the Etihad in 2015 and has since won 16 trophies and contributed directly to 280 goals. He is the best assist provider in Premier League history.

These will be my last months as a Manchester City player

Kevin De Bruyne

The 33-year-old joined City in a transfer worth more than 60 million euros from Wolfsburg. After barely having any opportunities at Chelsea, he consolidated himself as one of the Premier League’s greatest stars… in the north of England, not in London.

In his record, the Champions League won against Inter stands out, as well as six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and five League Cups

De Bruyne’s full statement

This was De Bruyne’s statement to say goodbye to City:

Seeing this, you probably realize where this is going. So I’ll get straight to the point and tell you that these will be my last months as a Manchester City player.None of this is easy to write, but as footballers, we all know that this day will come. That day has come, and you deserve to hear it from me first.

Football led me to all of you and to this city. Chasing my dream, not knowing that this stage would change my life. This city. This club. These people… gave me everything. I had no choice but to give it all back! And guess what? We won it all!

Kevin De Bruyne

Like it or not, it’s time to say goodbye. Suri, Rome, Mason, Michele and I are extremely grateful for what this place has meant to our family. “Manchester” will always be in our children’s passports and, more importantly, in each of our hearts.

This will always be our HOME.We can’t thank the city, the club, the staff, the teammates, the friends and the family enough for this 10-year journey.Every story comes to an end, but this has definitely been the best chapter.

Let’s enjoy these last moments together. Much love, KDB”

And the future…?

His future now remains to be seen, with rumors since last season always talking of a multi-million dollar offer from Saudi Arabia. But according to ‘Sky Sports’, De Bruyne has entered into talks with Saudi Arabian second division side Neom SC (a macro-project underway that will be promoted to the top flight this year) to join the club, talks that are described as “serious” and “positive”.

‘Sky Sports’ also talks about MLS and the ‘new’ San Diego FC.
