Kelsey Mitchell is experiencing a very active offseason, not because she is currently competing in any league, that will come later, but because she is entering a period of major decisions ahead of her imminent arrival in WNBA free agency.

As Mitchell prepares for what lies ahead, after being a key factor in helping the Indiana Fever reach this year’s semifinals, many voices within the organization are asking her for one particular thing.

On November 12, Mitchell celebrated her 30th birthday, and to mark the occasion, she shared a post on her Instagram account reflecting on what she has achieved throughout her career and what awaits her in the coming months.

Life is about choices. Here’s to hoping I keep making the right ones with the right people for the right reasons. 30 ball.

Kelsey Mitchell

Expressed the Indiana Fever’s star, at least through this season.

They want her to stay longer in Indiana; however, negotiations are not possible at this time.

As previously mentioned, Mitchell was a crucial piece in helping the Fever reach the doorstep of the WNBA Finals. However, they ultimately ran into the team that would go on to become champions, the Las Vegas Aces. For that reason, her most recent team wants to retain her, yet negotiations cannot move forward at this time, as talks remain frozen until an agreement is reached and a new CBA is signed.

Several of her colleagues, teammates, and fans commented on her post. Lexie Hull, Ailyah Boston, Damaris Dantas, Chloe Bibi, Victoria Vivians, and Olivia Nelson-Ododa also visited the post to share their thoughts about what she wrote.

Kelsey delivered her best season in 2025, which earned her a spot in the voting for the league’s Most Valuable Player award, though she ultimately finished in fifth place. As she enters free agency, many teams will undoubtedly pursue her. Meanwhile, in Indiana, head coach Stephanie White and general manager Amber Cox have made it clear that she is their top priority for next season.

Kelsey Mitchell’s off-season activities

Mitchell will be joining Hive BC of Unrivaled this offseason, sharing the experience alongside several Fever teammates, including Lexie Hull, Aliyah Boston, Aari McDonald, and Damaris Dantas. However, that is not the only commitment she will undertake. She has also signed with Project B, a league that began this past November 26.

When the WNBA is not in session, players must stay active and generate income, and what Kelsey Mitchell continues to do is remarkable.
