At this point, few can deny that social media is a jungle. However, if anyone still doubts it, just ask Madison Beer. The girlfriend of quarterback Justin Herbert recently had a post that seemed innocent but had a dark motivation.
Although rumors that the singer and the Los Angeles Chargers star were dating began in August 2015, it wasn’t until March 5th that they made it official on Instagram.
Beyond her relationship with Herbert, the 27-year-old songstress has had to deal with some mental health issues, exacerbated by the internet and social media.
The problems have reached such a level that in a recent interview, she stated that she considers closing her social media accounts permanently almost every month. The recent Instagram interaction wasn’t the exception.
Madison Beer dodges a social media bullet
This Monday, Beer held a Q&A session with her fans on Instagram. During the conversation, the “Make You Mine” singer shared a screenshot of an unusual question from a follower.
“Show us your pedicure,” the supposed fan asked. To which Madison responded with a meme inspired by the series “Dexter,” captioned “I will not be falling for your tricks.”
At first glance, it all seems like a joke between the artist and the follower. However, it appears that Madison knows why this fan wanted a picture of her “pedicure.”
The murky market of celebrity foot photos
While it’s impossible to be certain, the netizen’s request may have been likely linked to the infamous “WikiFeet,” a website where users upload and rate photos of celebrities’ feet.
Informally dubbed the “foot economy,” the trade in photos of celebrities’ feet, and even those of ordinary people, has become a billion-dollar business by 2026.
Whether it was an innocent request or something with a dark ulterior motive, Beer decided to dodge the question because, as everyone knows, what you upload to the internet never truly disappears.
