Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. wasted no time and as soon as he was released from the Federal Center for Social Rehabilitation (Cefereso) No. 11 in Hermosillo, Sonora, he dedicated himself to training.

On social media, specifically on the Coliseo Boxing Club by Gallo Estrada account on Instagram, a video appeared showing the son of boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez training in the gym’s facilities.

It is worth mentioning that this place is owned by the boxer Juan Francisco Estrada and several fighters have trained there, including Chavez himself and now his son.

When was Julio Cesar Chavez Jr released?

It should be noted that on Monday, August 25, Chavez Jr. was released after a judge determined on Saturday night that although he was linked to the process for arms trafficking and links to drug trafficking, the Mexican boxer would carry out his process in freedom.

Why was Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. linked to a process for arms trafficking and links to drug trafficking?

Junior was linked to the process for his possible participation in arms trafficking and organized crime after being arrested by agents of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) last July 2 in California after losing a fight against the youtuber Jake Paul in Anaheim

US authorities arrested him for illegally entering the country and for his alleged links to the “Los Chapitos” faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.

During the hearing, the FGR presented 21 pieces of evidence against the former world champion, including wiretaps linking him to Nestor Isidro Perez Salas, alias El Nini, head of security for the Sinaloa cartel, as well as a DEA report identifying him as a subject of investigation. There was also mention of the discovery of a boxing robe with his name on it at a property linked to Perez Salas.

According to the ruling, Chavez Jr. must appear at the next hearing on November 24, when the judge will evaluate the progress of the investigation. If found guilty, he could face a sentence of between four and eight years in prison.
